Industry.
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and the Department of Computer Science are launching a joint Industry Partners Program. This combined program, inDuke, recognizes the collaborations between the two departments and our common industry partners, and underscores the interdisciplinary theme of Duke University. The inaugural inDuke event is scheduled for late spring, 2005.
InDuke enhances the value to industry by offering access to faculty, students and research within the two departments. InDuke builds on the success of the existing Industry Partners Program (IPP) and IPP members are seamlessly transitioned to inDuke Membership. Electrical and Computer Engineering partners who join inDuke will receive the following benefits:
- Research Collaborations: Opportunities between ECE/CS and industry for substantial collaborative research relationships.
- Events/Workshops/Educational Programs: Industry events on a quarterly and annual basis, including recruiting opportunities; technical workshops, short courses, and access to professional masters programs; bringing in timely visiting lecturers and scholars; and hosting visitors or executives within the program offices for periods of one day to a full semester. In addition to maintaining interest, these events will provide students with the opportunity to have more interactions and exposure to participating corporations.
- Internships: Industry will have the opportunity to hire interns from the ECE and CS departments,. Consultation and feedback prior to, during, and following the internship session will be a top priority, ensuring that the students and corporations have a positive internship experience. The possibility of offering an ECE co-op program in conjunction with CS is being explored.
- Job Placements: Industry partners will be given preferential access for planning information sessions and conducting on-campus interviews. Partners will receive assistance in working with other schools and offices within Duke University. Members will also receive information on graduating classes, including selected resumes.
